What are warning labels on packages?

Warning labels for packages are ready-made stickers containing important information about the contents of the shipment and how it should be handled (e.g., how to open, store, or transport it). It's good to have them in your e-commerce store, warehouse, or courier and logistics company. Warning stickers for packages contain simple messages, legible to people who come into contact with the shipment (warehouse worker, courier, recipient), thereby increasing package safety and the chance of delivering it in perfect condition.

Examples of warning labels

Self-adhesive labels for packages are made of durable materials, have clear print (usually in white and red colors), resistant to UV radiation, moisture, or varying temperatures. Thanks to this, they can withstand various conditions, such as moisture, mechanical damage, or diverse temperatures. Thanks to high-quality adhesive, they adhere well to various surfaces, such as cardboard, paper, foil, and stay in place for a long time.

The most commonly used warning labels for packages are:

• "This Way Up" package sticker – a label with warning arrows indicating which way is up and which is down for the shipment. It indicates the correct way to transport and store the shipment vertically due to its contents.
• "Do Not Drop" package sticker – a label with the text "Do Not Drop" (often with a glass graphic) usually applies to delicate or valuable items that may be damaged by dropping the shipment.
• "Caution Glass" / "Fragile" package sticker – this is a label with the text "caution glass/fragile" and a graphic of a chipped glass. It is mainly affixed to fragile items made of glass that may be damaged during transport.
• "Check Contents" package sticker – a warning label with the text: "Upon receipt, check the contents of the shipment in the presence of the carrier" or similar. It is information for the courier and recipient about the need to check the contents of the shipment upon delivery.
• "Documents Inside" package sticker – this is a label that can carry various messages. It may indicate that the envelope or shipment should be opened carefully because it contains important documents, e.g., a contract. It is also placed on the carton to inform that additional documents such as a warranty card, invoice, or receipt are inside.
