How to remove adhesive tape?

Many people wonder how to remove double-sided tape without leaving unsightly marks. First of all, you should start peeling it off at an angle – you need to pry up one of the corners with your fingernail or a sharp tool (being careful not to scratch the surface).
It's important that the room temperature is above 5°C – otherwise, the tape may break, and then there's a higher chance that glue residue will remain on the surface. A good idea would be to heat the tape for a moment with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive a bit. Then, simply pull the corner of the tape until you peel it off across its entire width. After that, just steadily pull the tape until you remove it completely.

Homemade methods

What if the adhesive tape was of poor quality and glue remained on the surface? How to remove tape residue at home?

However, it's worth knowing a few tricks that will make removing adhesive tape easier before unsightly marks appear. Always make sure, however, that this type of product will not discolour the surface you are cleaning.

  • If you want to remove masking tape, always wait until the paint is completely dry.
  • Remove all self-adhesive tapes at an angle of approximately 45°.
