How to secure a valuable package?

Don't know how to pack a parcel to be absolutely sure it won't open on its own? Or maybe you want to additionally secure the shipment against opening by third parties? What is security tape? What should you do to secure your parcel in the best possible way? We answer!

Rules for packing shipments

VOID tapes are just one of many ways to seal a package. Their proper use minimizes the risk of the shipment being opened by unauthorized persons. However, security tape alone is not enough. First, you need to ensure proper packaging. Above all, cartons should not be damaged in any way. In addition, they need to be adapted to the contents. Loose goods should be packed in foil bags or smaller packages that will prevent the goods from spilling out into the carton. Documents should be packed in an envelope or a reinforced cardboard envelope.

Internal packaging

You already know how to seal a package so that it doesn't open during transport. But what about securing the contents of the shipment? Make sure that all items are individually wrapped – it's best to use bubble wrap for this, additionally secured with tape. To prevent items from bumping into each other, fill empty spaces with, for example, newspapers or special air bags. You can also use bubble wrap, paper scraps, or special polystyrene beads for this purpose. The most important thing is simply to ensure that every free space in the package is filled, otherwise the items may bump into each other, and the transport of the shipment will be difficult.

External security

The security tape you use to wrap the carton cannot be ordinary office tape. Classic clear tapes have light adhesive and do not hold as well as specialized packaging tapes. So, if you want to be sure that the carton will not open during transport, use a product designed for this purpose to seal it.

The carton should also be secured with tape from the bottom – apply tape along the joint of the paper flaps, as well as on the corners. Make sure that every place where the elements of the carton meet is thoroughly taped. For certainty, apply two or three layers of tape. Secure the top of the package in the same way. Alternatively, you can also wrap the entire carton with special film (stretch film), and then secure it with one or two layers of tape.

In addition, make sure to secure the shipment against opening by unauthorized persons. A specialized security tape, which we produce, is used for this purpose. VOID tape should be firmly pressed when applying it, and after just a few hours, it leaves a perfect mark on the carton. This means that any attempt to remove it and re-seal it leaves permanent traces – thanks to this, the addressee sees that someone opened or tried to open the shipment. Such VOID tapes are mainly used to secure shipments of valuable contents (both in the case of products and documents). What about the label?

When packaging a parcel with film or tape alone, the question always arises – what about the label? Both film and tape have a slippery surface, and most labels in foil sleeves simply slide off them. How can you prevent such a situation? It is best to put the printed label into the aforementioned foil pouch, and then use reinforced VOID security tape. This will give you confidence that the label will be firmly attached to the package and will not tear off during transport. VOID tapes have very strong adhesive and can also be used on slippery and uneven surfaces.
