3M VHB Double-Sided Tapes

Applications of 3M VHB Tapes

3M VHB tapes are adhesive tapes that bond various types of materials, are designed for both indoor and outdoor use, and show excellent adhesion even on uneven surfaces. Thanks to their properties, strong 3M double-sided tapes offer a wide range of applications, including demanding ones. 3M VHB tapes prove reliable in, among others, the metallurgical, transport, signage and advertising industries, in the production of wooden elements, in the construction industry, and in electronics.

3M double-sided adhesive tapes can be divided into several groups based on their application.

1. 3M VHB tapes with high adhesion to most materials – VHB tapes prepared by 3M adapt to irregularities, permanently bond elements with irregular surfaces, made of various materials, including powder-coated elements. Tape numbers: 5915, 5925, 5930, 5952, 5962.
2. High-performance VHB tapes – 3M VHB tapes designed for bonding misaligned elements made of rigid materials. Used, among others, for bonding plastics, glass, metals, and painted elements. These are strong double-sided tapes characterized by high adhesion, durability, and resistance to plasticizers. Tape numbers: 4926, 4936, 4941, 4956, 4919, 4947, 4979, 4991.
3. Transparent VHB tapes – clear VHB adhesive tape that works perfectly in applications where high bonding strength and an optimal aesthetic effect are important. Thanks to their properties, these types of 3M acrylic tapes are used for bonding transparent and colorless materials, such as glass or plastics. Tape numbers: 4905, 4614, 4910, 4915, 4918.
4. 3M double-sided tapes with special properties
   1. with high thermal resistance – 3M double-sided tapes, intended for bonding elements that will be powder coated in the future. Tape numbers: 4646, 4611, 4655, 4613;
   2. designed for use in low temperatures – VHB tapes that retain their properties at temperatures slightly above 0°C. Tape numbers: 4943, 4957;
   3. bonds difficult-to-bond materials – 3M double-sided tapes recommended for bonding polyethylene and polypropylene elements. Tape numbers: 4932, 4952.
5. 3M VHB tapes providing increased strength for wall applications – strong double-sided tapes reliable for bonding metal or glass elements. Tape numbers: 4920, 4930, 4942, 4945, 4950, 4912, 4959, 4929, 4949.

High-quality strong VHB tapes

VHB tape is – unlike foam tape – entirely covered with acrylic adhesive. Thanks to this, these technical tapes have viscoelastic properties. This means they exhibit enormous adhesion even to uneven, rough surfaces. Simply press them down for the VHB tape to fill irregularities and bond the adhesive to the surface.
Moreover, because 3M double-sided tapes are entirely covered with adhesive, they adhere to the bonded elements with their entire surface. They also feature high insulation and sealing properties. They can be used for bonding metal and glass.
